Dieu Donné is pleased to announce a new edition by Suzanne McClelland. Pussy is an edition of 75 variable artworks in handmade paper.
Suzanne McClelland’s practice includes both large-scale paintings and works on paper, often extracting fragments of speech or text from various political and cultural sources and exploring the symbolic and material possibilities that reside within language. This is exemplified in the watermarked and letter pressed “broadside” prints of Pussy.
About the Artist
Suzanne McClelland has exhibited extensively in the United States and abroad since the early 1990s. McClelland parses such issues as the limitations and malleability of communication, the impact technology has on interpreting information, and the mechanics of translation. Her works are infused with social commentary, underscoring the way in which language itself is gendered and politicized by its context.
