Dawn Clements - Paper Variable 2011

Dawn Clements
Strewn, 2011
Black Sumi ink on gray cotton paper
15 1/2 x 11 inches

Dieu Donné is pleased to announce a new edition by Dawn Clements of 36 variable artworks in handmade paper as part of the 2011 Paper Variables program.

Dawn Clements utilized her ritualized practice of making a drawing a day and adapted it for this subscription. After selecting the look and feel of the paper she wished to work with our studio staff created custom sheets for the artist. Working in ink, Dawn Clements then created a multi panel series comprised of drawings done in this daily manner, on some days more than one per day. Consistent with the artist's investigation of interiors, the sheets work together to form a large-scale image of her studio work table, while simultaneously existing on their own as unique works conveying more intimate spaces.
