Cythnia Porter’s untitled work is a brown field that refers to a dark organic system of roots embedded in a cross-section of the earth. At the same time, the white channels in this work are like capillaries feeding gaping stigmatas.
About the Artist
Cynthia Porter received a B.F.A. in Artisanry from Boston University. She has taught design and textile classes at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University and at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts for more than 10 years. Her work, including her sculpture, has been featured in several solo and group exhibitions in the eastern United States, including the Samuel Fleisher Art Memorial and Drexel University’s Nesbit Gallery of the Arts and Design in Philadelphia, PA. She is currently a board member of the Kensington South Neighborhood Advisory Council. (Source: Marafiki Arts)
