Dieu Donné is pleased to release Parallel Paths, a new Paper Variables edition series by Matthew Kirk. Working with Master Collaborator Tatiana Ginsberg, the artist created 3 variable edition series, each including 5 cohesive works each with a unique composition.
“I made these works using a set of hand cut stencils and pulp paint. The stencils were interchangeable to create unique patterns that eventually come together to create an ambiguous narrative which is really, as always, left up to the viewer.
I feel like with all of my work, each piece informs the next and so on. These pulp painting pieces evolved over the course of my time at Dieu Donné and I’m also bringing in the influence of works in progress at my own studio. Being able to work on multiple pieces at once is always important to me and allows me to stay in the zone and follow what the pieces want, wherever I am working. Here at Dieu Donné, with no preconceived idea beyond the size of the sheet and the colors available, it’s always a surprise to see what ends up happening.” –––– Matthew Kirk
